This was my first real foray into writing and illustrating a multi-page comic. The assignment was to depict a fairytale in 3 spreads (6 pages). So I looked to my book of Scottish folklore and chose to depict The Sealkiller (also known as The Seal Catcher to those who are decidedly less hardcore). What I found amusing about the tale was just how quickly everything transpires, and how hapless the protagonist is. So that is what I tried to focus on in my 6 page interpretation. Comic-making proved more time consuming than I expected, and the final product became a bit sloppy in my attempts to complete it on time. A year later, I decided to go back and improve the quality as well as give it a cover and a final epilogue page. That version is what I’ve posted here.
