This was my last major project at MassArt. Looking at all my works, I decided my comics were really what I wanted to focus on for my portfolio. After creating a great many pages for my thesis comic, I decided I wanted to write something smaller and take my time with it.

Back when I was researching to make a comic based off folktales (which resulted in my Sealkiller comic), I came across this southeast Asian folklore monster called a Krasue. I left a little description in the comic, but I’ll go over it again real quick. Essentially it’s a spirit that’s a normal lady during the day, but by night her head detaches along with her digestive tract and it floats around looking for things to eat. There’s something about this concept that I find hilarious, that this gruesome floating head might need a nine to five and pay rent. It’s such an absurd and mystical concept that gets pulled jarringly back to reality. So my response was to write comic that has a brief façade of a horror before becoming a mundane slice of life.
